Building Your Swing Set

We talk to customers all day long and we constantly get asked, "How long does it really take to set up this swing set?" The truth is, whatever the manufacture states as the average set up time is really the actual time. We have seen the most mechanical and handy people take over double the amount of time to set up their swing set and the reason being is organization. We believe prep work and organization are the two most important variables to setting up your swing set in a timely manner.

We have a customer who took this to the extreme by placing post it notes on ever part as her husband open each box. Her husband was making fun of her until he started building there swing set. He estimates that her prep work ultimately saved the 2-3 hours on a swing set that normally takes 12 hours to build.

Swing Set Buyers Guide Part 1

This is one of the most popular questions we get at Buy Swing Sets. Buying a swing set is a major purchase. We urge all of our customers to take their time researching before making their decision. We are here to answer all of your questions.

Part 1 - Choosing the material

Once you have made the decision to purchase a swing set you need to decide what material you are looking for. The three most popular materials used for swing sets are:

  • Wood

  • Metal

  • Plastic Coated

  • Wooden Swing Sets are the most popular home swing sets. They range in sizes and prices. Usually, wooden swing sets come with pressure treated wood to ensure durability. Woods range from pine, cedar, to redwood. Wood Swing Sets typically blend into rustic settings better then other types of swing sets. Wood Swing Sets range from basic structures to complex forts with sandboxes and other accessories.

Metal Swing Sets typically consist of basic tubular structures. Often made of Aluminum, Metal Swing Sets are the most affordable swing sets on the market. Metal swing sets are very sturdy and hold up to most weather conditions.

Plastic Coated Sets are the premier swing sets offered today. These swing sets feature plastic coated wood that hold up in extreme weather conditions. No splinters, No staining, just plenty of playtime. These swing sets can range from basic structures to complex playgrounds. Because of the extra step in manufacturing, these swing sets tend to cost a little more then the other alternatives.
